SSCB facility

SSCB – Swiss Stem Cells Biotech was set up in 2005 within Cardiocentro Ticino in Lugano, a highly specialized hospital with a strong research vocation, where the first transplant of autologous stem cells in Switzerland was carried out, in 2004, into a heart suffering from myocardial infarction. Afterwards SSCB moved into Swiss Institute for Regenerative Medicine (SIRM), state-of-the-art biomedical research institute.

The Banking department of SSCB – Swiss Stem Cells Biotech separates and preserves Stem Cells from cord blood and cord tissue at birth. Stem Cells will be available for use in the future to treat and maybe save the life of the newborn they were taken from, even when he or she becomes a child or an adult.

Stem Cells stored at SSCB are the exclusive property of the people who have deposited them and they can decide to withdraw them at any time.

Swiss Stem Cells Biotech has been the first Swiss facility to offer a private service for umbilical cord stem cell storage.

Due to the expanding activity and commitment to constantly maintain the highest quality and safety standards, end 2017 SSCB decided to move its offices, laboratories and storage facility in the new 1’500 m2 headquarter based in Vacallo - Canton of Ticino.

All the process and storage are entirely performed in our laboratory based in Switzerland – Canton of Ticino – and fully owned by SSCB.
